Honor & Celebrate

Today marks the celebration of International Women's Day! What a thrilling year 2017 was, and 2018 is shaping up with regards to galvanizing females! Women from all walks of life and many corners of the world are coming together to demand change. The number of movements that have been set forth in the past 18 months is outstanding. We're banding together to preserve our reproductive rights, enforce harsher gun control and demand equal pay. The fight for gender parity seems less distant, and it is certain we can't be stopped!

We're taking time to celebrate women's rights activists past, present and are continuing to be inspired by those who have overcome injustice. One that has been on the forefront of our minds lately is Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. She was a 17th-century Mexican self-taught scholar and poet who is pictured above. Inés is considered the first published feminist of the New World. Her seminal Repuesta a Sor Filotea, is a groundbreaking text on a woman's right to educational access.

On a lighter note, we'll be honoring womankind this weekend by hosting two brilliant ladies from the antique jewelry world. Laurel Stearns of Pass It On Ltd. and Susan Cohen of Circa 1700, and other vintage beauties in the store from 12-4PM this Saturday, March 10th. We'll be shopping their exclusive collection of rare estate pieces. Hopefully, you can join us and be delighted by the jewels women have worn throughout history.

Always,
